Here they come . . . it’s The Wild Things!
Always keeping a weather eye out for new talent, new bands, new faces, new voices, we here at thewhodotcom were very excited to hear about The Wild Things, a rock group fronted by lead singer Sydney Rae White, star of the Netflix/BBC show Uncle and the US blockbuster movie American Assassin.
We know of them because Pete Townshend heard some of their music a while ago and was knocked out by what he heard – so much so that last year he got them into Eel Pie’s Upper Woody Studio and recorded four tracks with them. At time of writing, these four tracks will appear on the band’s next album.
The full line-up of The Wild Things is Sydney Rae White (vocals), Rob Kendrick (guitars), Cameron White (bass) and Pete Wheeler (drums). Sydney (Syds) and Rob first met when they were both in the stage production of Quadrophenia the musical, with Rob taking the role of Jimmy Cooper.
Sadly, had the world not been struck down with the pandemic this year, The Wild Things were to have been the support band for The Who’s residency at The Coliseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas this past Spring.
But rather than dwell on what might have been, feast your eyes and ears on a few songs from The Wild Things from their Stripped Sessions video which includes their official video for ‘You’re Really Something’, the title track from their last album.

Will they open for the Who on tour?
That Pete has a great ear doesn’t he? Really enjoyed this and love Sydney’s voice. Will be checking out more of their music for sure thanks to Pete and this post!
Thank you Pete! Your eye for talent shines again. Best of luck to the band. You have the potential to go very far.
They’re cool as, I saw them a while back, really good studio and live. A great bunch of people, get involved.
Very impressive! Looking forward to catching the band live in the future.
I have never heard about these guys but their songs are really great!
Just saw the band open for The Who last week at MSG in NYC. Awesome performance. Then the next night at The Mercury Lounge. Another great show. Hope to see them in Vegas this coming November. Fyi, Rob is my daughter’s acting client.
What a terrific band. Great stuff!!!
