THE OX GETS HIMSELF A BLUE PLAQUE!
On Thursday the 15th June 2017, BBC Radio Gloucestershire will be unveiling a Blue Plaque to celebrate the iconic bass player John Entwistle.
John moved to Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire in 1976, and occupied a house there until his death in 2002. In May 2000 he famously stood in for the bass player of local band The Stowaways at a charity concert held at the Royal British Legion club in Stow. BBC Radio Gloucestershire thought it would be fitting to place the Blue Plaque on the Royal British Legion club building where this historic gig took place, and the club have kindly agreed.
BBC Radio Gloucestershire will be broadcasting live from the plaque unveiling between 11am-12pm on Thursday 15th June. During this hour we will be hearing from a number of people from the local community who knew and loved John, tributes from fellow musicians and, of course, some classic Who tracks!
BBC Radio Gloucestershire invites you to tune in to this special broadcast, or if you are local to the area, why not come along? The unveiling will take place at the Royal British Legion Building, Well Lane, Stow-on-the-Wold GL54 1DB between 11am-12pm
