When I CAN SEE FOR MILES didn’t sell particularly well in the UK, Pete Townshend was somewhat disappointed. He is quoted as saying, “To me it was the ultimate Who record, yet it didn’t sell. I spat on the British record buyer”. The B-side of the US single had MARY ANNE WITH THE SHAKY HANDS – she seemed to have gained an extra hand for the US pressing.
