THE WHO, one of rock’s legendary and defining bands are headlining Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2015 on Friday 26 June.
As previously revealed, a stellar guest list of performers will join them including PAUL WELLER, KAISER CHIEFS AND JOHNNY MARR.
Now even more names are announced. Added to the Great Oak Stage bill is ex Supergrass main man GAZ COOMBES currently riding high with his new album Matador which is already tipped to be one of the best of the year.
The all-day bill will feature many more brilliant acts who owe an artistic debt to one of the most influential of all British bands including SLEAFORD MODS, THE RIFLES and VINTAGE TROUBLE. Tickets are on sale now.
Nottingham electronic abstract punk duo SLEAFORD MODS will be headlining the Summer Stage, their 2014 Divide And Exit album was received with universal acclaim and voted one of the 10 best of the year by The Guardian.
Playing at the Barclaycard Outdoor Theatre, THE RIFLES are celebrating the tenth anniversary of their debut album No Love Lost and have a long history with some of the other acts on the June 26 bill. The band played on stage with Paul Weller performing The Jam classic Eton Rifles and have played gigs in aid of the Teenager Cancer Trust charity – the patron of which is The Who’s Roger Daltrey.
Fans of The Who will need no introduction to the high octane blues rock of Californian quartet VINTAGE TROUBLE, the band have supported The Who in both the UK and the USA and will be joining The Rifles at the Barclaycard Outdoor Theatre.
THE WHO are currently celebrating their 50th anniversary and the Hyde Park show will take their audience on an ‘Amazing Journey’ through their entire career from the days of THE HIGH NUMBERS to classic albums such as WHO’S NEXT, TOMMY, QUADROPHENIA, MY GENERATION, LIVE AT LEEDS and up to the present day.
Hyde Park will be the final UK show of THE WHO HITS FIFTY! tour which ROGER DALTREY described as, “This is the beginning of the long goodbye.”
Friday 26 June will see THE WHO play Hyde Park for the fourth and possibly final time (three times as headliners and once as part of Live 8).
Other headliners already announced for Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park are The Strokes with Beck and Future Islands on June 18, Blur on June 20, Kylie Minogue joined by Grace Jones and Chic feat Nile Rodgers on June 21, and Taylor Swift, joined by Ellie Goulding and John Newman on June 27.
