Edsel is proud to announce that for the first time, the deluxe editions of the first six solo albums by John Entwistle, the legendary bass guitarist of The Who, will be available digitally. Voted the greatest bass player of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, Entwistle or ‘The Ox’ or ‘Thunderfingers’, as he was nicknamed, was the only member of The Who with formal musical training and songwriting credits on all of their albums made during his lifetime bar Quadrophenia. Entwistle was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 as a member of The Who.

SMASH YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL from 1971 was the first solo album by a member of The Who, Entwistle self-produced the album with a rookie engineer, Roy Thomas Baker, who would later become famous for producing Queen. Freddie Mercury later used the same piano used by Entwistle during the sessions for this album on ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

WHISTLE RYMES from late 1972 was produced by Entwistle and Thin Lizzy producer John Alcock. The album’s title pokes fun at a common misspelling of Entwistle’s surname. Several of the tracks give a wry view of domestic life, following the birth of Entwistle’s son, Christopher, earlier that year.
