The Who with Orchestra to Play at the Eden Project
THE EDEN PROJECT ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT LEGENDARY ROCK BAND THE WHO WILL PLAY THE EDEN SESSIONS AT THEIR VENUE IN CORNWALL, ENGLAND
In what is a massive coup for the home of the world-famous Biomes, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and their band will take to the stage with a full orchestra on Tuesday 25 July.
Since emerging in the mid-1960s as a new and incendiary force in rock n’ roll, The Who have played well over 2,000+ gigs and established themselves as one of the top three greatest rock legacies in music history.
They have appeared at Woodstock, Monterey Pop, Glastonbury (twice), Hyde Park (four times), The Isle of Wight Festival (three times), the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, Desert Trip, Shea Stadium, The Super Bowl half-time show and Live Aid, to name but a very few.
Rita Broe, Managing Director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said: “We’re so thrilled to welcome legends The Who to Eden, in what will be a momentous moment in the Sessions history – and a great occasion for Cornwall. To see them grace our stage with a live orchestra will be one of the highlights of the summer: creating lasting memories. Don’t miss this!”
The Session will feature The Who’s full live band comprising guitarist and backing vocalist Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, second keyboardist Emily Marshall, bassist Jon Button, drummer Zak Starkey and backing vocalist Billy Nicholls, along with orchestra conductor Keith Levenson, lead violinist Katie Jacoby and lead cellist Audrey Q Snyder.
The Who wound up their The Who Hits Back! tour of the USA in November last year having wowed audiences in more than 30 cities.
Media and fans agreed that the band were as good as, if not better than ever and that the orchestral arrangements, most of which were done by the legendary David Campbell, brought a new depth and excitement to Pete Townshend’s music.
Inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990, The Who have placed 27 Top 40 singles in the United States and United Kingdom and 17 Top Ten albums, including the 1969 groundbreaking rock opera Tommy, 1970’s Live At Leeds, 1973’s Quadrophenia and 1978’s Who Are You.
Tickets for The Who at the Eden Project on Tuesday 25 July 2023 cost £86 plus an £11.18 booking fee.
