Additional Moving On! US Tour Dates for 2020

The Who have announced they’ll be moving on in 2020 with more tour dates, not quite ready to close the books on their acclaimed MOVING ON! TOUR, which pairs singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist/songwriter Pete Townshend with local symphony orchestras across North America and was hailed by critics as a once-in-a-lifetime rock experience. Along with a series of rescheduled shows announced earlier in the month (see complete list of dates below) the band has expanded their 2020 itinerary to include a show on April 21 in Hollywood, FL (Hard Rock Hotel and Casino), April 23, in Cincinnati, OH (BB&T Arena at Northern Kentucky University), and a series of six shows at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV kicking off on May 5, and running to May 16 (see dates below). Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.
The Who’s April 23rd show in Cincinnati will have added historical significance as it will be the first time the band will be performing in the city since eleven lives were tragically lost as the concert crowd waited to get into The Who’s concert on December 3, 1979. The historic show was announced last night by local Cincinnati TV station WCPO after airing a documentary special commemorating the 40th anniversary of the tragedy – The Who: The Night That Changed Rock. Pete and Roger were both interviewed for the special program along with long-time manager Bill Curbishley. The Who will make a donation from the concert to the P.E.M. Memorial, the organisation that was founded to honour friends and classmates that lost their lives at the December 3rd, 1979 concert, providing college scholarships for students at Finneytown High School.
As always, the upcoming shows will feature The Who’s full live band comprised of guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button, drummer Zak Starkey and backing vocals by Billy Nicholls along with orchestra conductor Keith Levenson, lead violinist Katie Jacoby and lead cellist Audrey Q. Snyder, passionately delivering The Who’s many classics. As well as some songs from The Who’s brand new album, titled WHO, their first full-length album in 13 years, available everywhere this Friday, December 6. The recent single ‘All This Music Must Fade,’ has also drawn praise as “The Who’s defiant post-script” by The New York Times. A recent Rolling Stone feature proclaimed the album a worthy addition to their canon, noting the above-mentioned track and “Street Song,” citing “Daltrey’s anguished vocal” as “among the more moving performances of his career.”
Local symphonies will again be joining The Who for the 2020 shows, putting their indelible stamp on the music’s timelessness in support of Roger and Pete’s trademark emotional power. The 2019 spring and fall legs of the MOVING ON! TOUR generated the most unanimous outpouring of acclaim from critics and fans of any live rock show this year, winning raves across North America for the orchestral dynamic as well as the duo’s cathartic rock firepower and intimate acoustic numbers. “They’re not getting older. They’re getting better. You better, you better, you bet.” hailed the Worcester Telegram, with Pollstar Magazine affirming “Daltrey is in peak form, and so is Townshend, lavishing his trademarked windmill guitar motion.”
Produced by Live Nation, The Who’s North American MOVING ON! TOUR brought the band’s iconic brand of incomparable rock through 29 cities, including a rollicking sold-out barn-burner in Boston’s famed Fenway Park, and a memorable Seattle show where Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder joined them onstage for a rousing version of ‘The Punk And the Godfather’, with Eddie’s wife and daughter in attendance. The tour also wound down in grand style, with a series of October shows at LA’s historic Hollywood Bowl, the first time the band played three dates at the landmark venue during one touring cycle.

I had tickets to the show 40 years ago in Cincinnati. Didn’t get to see the show as my date was injured in all the mayhem. Really hope I can get tickets for some sort of closure.

Truly moved and saddened by the reactions of the band. Clearly they have all been changed by the events of that horrible night. I am grateful that they are returning to Cincinnati. This will be healing for them as well as the loved ones of the victims, the emergency workers, and all who attended…and their families. Thank you to WCPO and to The Who for talking about it and coming back “home”

Watched the documentary The Night That Changed Rock on WCPO local 9 last night (Tuesday Dec. 3rd) in Cincinnati. This documentary marked the 40th anniversary of The Who tragedy. Roger Daltrey came to Cincinnati (Community of Finneytown) in 2018 to meet with family members of those lost and survivors. This town and community never blamed the band for the tragedy and this helped Roger find closure and his interview was less stressful. But watching Pete Townshend dealing with the pain brought both my wife and I to tears every time he appeared and spoke. I’m so glad they are coming back! Only regret is the small venue at BB&T arena at only 5500 is too small.

There in ’79 with a large group of friends. Was stuck in the middle of it all with one friend getting trampled. Got her up and fortunately for us, somehow got out to the side and went to another door that finally opened. Then got stuck behind an open glass door and concrete wall and a total stranger pulled me out and I went flying over the turn style never knowing what had happened until later in the night. Was a tragic night but Finneytown has made some good of it…and thanks to The Who for their moving comments and coming back to Cincy….much love !
I was there 40 yrs ago. I pulled a girl up above my shoulders that was screaming she couldn’t breath. A guy sitting in front of me was saying he thought his arm was broken. Didn’t know anyone died until we heard it on the radio, when we were driving back to columbus. Would like to go back.

I was there in Cincy in 79 I was 25 years old graduated from Finneytown in 72.. . Saw the band in 75 with Moon and all the lasers, it was fantastic but in 79 I was one of the few lucky ones who had reserved seating and arrived late and had no idea what happened till I was driving home and heard about it on the radio! So glad that they are returning to Cincinnati!!!! I WILL BE THERE.

I signed up for The Who Fan Club but I just found out that out that I had to have done it by 6 AM this morning in order to get the presale code. I paid $65. This concert wasnt even announced until 11 PM local time here in Cincinnati. Whats the deal? I really want to go back to see them!!!! Why wasnt this posted prior to me signing up and paying the extra $65 for nothing?????

i would really like to know why they couldn’t find a different venue in Cincinnati, I don’t believe that stuff about the Cintas Center. There’s UC Paul Brown stadium or even Riverbend. sSomething is fishy, why not Cincinnati?
Rick, BB&T Arena was the only venue available on the only date that The Who and the orchestra were free to play in Cincinnati. Nothing fishy.
So glad they are coming back, my twin brother and friends ,were there , and, one friend lost his life, I love the WHO and can’t wait to see them!
Time heals wounds but cannot replace what has been lost. I watched the program. Those poor parents who saw their son’s shoes on the news footage — and all affected. Sad story. It is good to hear what good came of it, though (especially with venue and event safety reforms), and it warms my heart to see the band’s return to Cincinnati. I cringed when PT said that he didn’t know whether people would curse him. I cannot imagine that happening anywhere — but especially not in the Queen City! They’ll certainly be joyfully welcomed. And kudos to RD for visiting Finneytown last year.
By the way, my sister had a ticket for the concert but gave it to her friend when she had to stay home to babysit me. She was naturally disheartened that she never got to see the band, but perhaps it was a blessing. I’m hoping to take her in April as a payback.

To gain access to the pre-sale you must have a valid and current membership of The Who Fan Club by no later than 6:00am EST, Wednesday December 4th, 2019. Any applications for membership received after that time will not be valid for pre-sale codes.

Regarding the cancellation of the concert in Las Vegas on May 12th. We were flying over from Spain especially, our flights have also sadly been cancelled. We therefore ask for a full refund on our tickets (confirmation number VCW-00C14NHHP), as we are unable to attend any rearranged dates.
