The Who’s fourth single, SUBSTITUTE was initially a big hit, achieving #5 in the British charts until it fell victim to the group’s legal bust up with Shel Talmy and Brunswick records. Aftert two previous injunctions, The Who sidestepped the issue by releasing the single a third time on Robert Stigwood’s Reaction label. This time round the B-side was a jazzy-bluesy instrumental called  WALTZ FOR A PIG and credited to The Who Orchestra who were in fact the Graham Bond Organization featuring Graham Bond, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Mike Falone and Ginger Baker. The title was rumoured to be a jibe at Talmy. The track is credited to Harry Butcher who was in fact Ginger Baker (Butcher, Baker, Candlestick maker . . . etc).
