THE WHO ANNOUNCE FINAL U.S. SHOW: WHO CARES BENEFIT FOR TEEN CANCER AMERICA AND

MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING CANCER CENTER

LEGENDARY BAND TO BE JOINED BY ACCLAIMED SINGER/SONGWRITER ELVIS COSTELLO & THE IMPOSTERS

FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28 CONCERT AT THEATER AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

Legendary rockers THE WHO and Elvis Costello & The Imposters will perform an intimate concert Thursday, February 28 at New York City’s The Theater at Madison Square Garden to benefit Teen Cancer America and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Teen Cancer America is igniting a movement around changing the way teens and young adults with cancer are treated and supported from the point of diagnosis.  Funds raised from the February 28 benefit concert will go towards helping hospitals develop units designed to give the very best chance of a positive outcome both physically and emotionally. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities to keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, the units will strive to provide an environment where they can meet others in a similar situation, helping to support their transition between teen and adulthood.

This represents the first-ever New York-area fundraiser THE WHO have performed for Teen Cancer America; Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are the driving force behind Teen Cancer America.  After more than a decade of working with Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK, they bring their passion for making a difference in the lives of teens and young adults with cancer to the United States.  This special show marks THE WHO’s final 2013 U.S. show (where they’ll perform their greatest hits).

Ticketmaster is happy to be a participant donor for THE WHO’s February 28 show benefiting Teen Cancer America at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Simply wonderful news. Great cause. And so very convenient for Who fans and Elvis Costello fans like me who work in the City and live in New Jersey. We’ve been very lucky this year.

A very nice space. I saw the Doors there as a boy of 15 in January of 1970. It was called the Felt Forum back then.

Even though Jim Morrison was not quite the handsome, thin young fellow he was when first famous, the girls were taking their bras off and throwing them at him. Quite shocking to me who had gone to a Roman Catholic grammar school from September 1960 to June 1969.

Speaking of such things, I overheard a few older female fans in their 60s at the December Garden concert comment quite approvingly about the looks of both Roger and Pete on the way out of the show. They were unremorsefully behaving like teenagers. I had to smile. It was very cute.

I saw Scrooge in that space too some years back. Roger and his fellow cast members gave a very nice performance. The crowd enjoyed themselves tremendously as I am sure they will again on February 28th.

Hats off. The band is incredibly energetic.

I can’t wait for the exercise video starring all the aging British rock stars who have made being a NYC metro area fan such a pleasure this past year. It’ll be a big seller and raise tons of money for all their favorite charitable causes.

I am 56 years old and have been a Who fan since I can remember. I am proud to know that my childhood idles are such caring and respectful people. Keep going guys, it’s all good.

Well done to Roger Daltrey, The Who and everyone behind these cancer fundraisers – one of many reasons(apart from the great music)the group are still around – they all care. 2014 is the 50th year for The Who – here’s to the next!
