San Diego, CA: The Who prove that the show must – and can – go on.

When Zak Starkey was taken ill (nothing serious) yesterday hours before The Who’s show at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend invited Scott Devours, who had toured ‘Tommy’ with Roger’s solo band two years ago, to step in.

Scott was magnificent. He played the whole of Quadrophenia note perfectly with only a two hour runthrough to the delight of everyone – onstage and off. Scott performed the ‘greatest hits’ encore with no rehearsal at all.

At the end of the show, Pete Townshend gave him a warm and well deserved tribute.

“Quadrophenia’s not an easy piece,” says Roger Daltrey. “To do what Scotty did took real guts.”

What a show last night in Glendale, AZ! Scott did a great job and you would not have known that it was his second night. Thank you Pete and Roger for wonderful memories!

Saw the show in Glendale from the 11th row. Loved the musicianship, though it seemed like there were several technical difficulties. But Rog and Pete have such a stage presence. Was singing at the top of my lungs!

I saw the (excellent) show last night 2.6.13 in Glendale, AZ. As a drummer I can appreciate the job that Scott pulled off flawlessly. He joins the ranks of my all-time favorites. He didn’t even break a sweat! Grace under pressure…

The whole band rocked it – the energy level was amazing. Roger and Pete are a long way from slowing down! Awesome show, stunning job Scott and best to Zak.

Saw them last night in Phoenix! Amazing show and Scott was amazing! I saw them many times when they were four including their first tour to the US and Roger sang like he did back in the day and Pete just keeps getting better!
