Original P. Townshend Sketch being Auctioned in aid of 'War Child'

An original sketch by Pete Townshend is one of many pieces of rare music memorabilia being auctioned in support of War Child and the British Music Experience, Britain’s Museum of Popular Music based at The O2.

The sketch is of a ‘Mod Jacket’ designed by Pete for War Child’s 1995 artist collaboration project  ‘Pagan Fun Wear.’ He was among a few of the industry elite such as Bryan Ferry, Bjork and Lou Reed asked to design items for a catwalk show. The innovative costumes were brought to life by fashion students and were auctioned off – raising over £150,000 for the charity.

The drawing is now being exhibited at the British Music Experience in the 20 Years of War Child exhibition, which celebrates the charity’s unique relationship with British Popular Music. You can learn more about the auction and snap up the sketch, along with other rare photographs by Mary McCartney and prints by the Stone Roses guitarist John Squire at http://bit.ly/YIVadk .
